Teacher Biographies
Tanya Twerdun-Sutherland - Owner, Teacher and Choreographer

Miss. TanyaAs a teacher, Tanya has spent the last twenty-eight (28) years with the Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Academy of Dance, Ziegfeld School of Dance and as owner/Director of StarCast Dance Academy and Winnipeg Dance Force. Tanya has spent the last 8 years with Tanya’s Dance Worx in Langdon. Tanya shares her expertise in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Pointe and Hip Hop.

As a performer, Tanya was selected as dancer/ singer for Toronto’s "Phantom of the Opera" from over 1000 Canadian and American performers where she performed for almost 3 years. She has appeared in Winnipeg’s Rainbow Stage productions of Carousel, Cinderella, Peter Pan and Say it with Music.

Her credentials include being a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, Graduated Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet Teachers program as certified ballet teacher and a Member of the Canadian Professional Equity Performers Union.

Her choreography has provided over 50 award winning performances at L.A Underground, L.A Dance Force and Tremaine competitions throughout Canada and The United States of America between 1994-2004 and over 100 gold honour and gold awards from the Manitoba Dance Festival.

As a student, her training started at the age of 3 in Calgary. The majority of her training came from the Allan Cozzubbo Dance Academy, Brian Foley, Jacquie Lemay, Al Gilbert, George Randolf, Sean Debidin, Dave & Jackie Carter and various teachers from New York and LA. She completed Al Gilbert tap/ jazz exams obtaining honors and highly commended. She attended the Alberta Ballet Company. She auditioned for the summer school program with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet and was asked to join their professional program. Tanya trained with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet for 6 years, received scholarships every year graduating from Level 7 of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet Professional Division.

Miss Tanya has many students who have advanced into dance careers such as Las Vegas Celine Dion show, Cruise Ships, Mexico resorts, New York Broadway shows, Toronto’s Stratford Theatre and has also trained her students to successful careers in dance instruction.


Amanda Twerdun - Teacher and Choreographer

Miss. AmandaAs a teacher, Amanda has ten years experience with Tanya’s Dance Worx and Winnipeg Dance Force. Amanda has spent the last six years with Tanya’s Dance Worx in Langdon and ten years teaching and choreographing. Amanda shares her expertise in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical and Hip Hop.

As a performer, Amanda was selected as a dancer by Carnival Cruise Lines for three years. She danced in the Pan American Games Open Ceremonies in 1999 and Disney's Winnie the Pooh Festival in 1998.Her television and movie experience consists of roles on televisions Sesame Street and TV series “2030” on YTV, as well as Movie appearances with "Inside the Osmonds" and “One Last Dance”.

Her scholarships consist include: 5-6-7-8 Showtime, One year scholarship with L.A. Dance Magic, Scholarships from Manitoba Dance Festival, Three time Best overall in the Manitoba Dance Festival, Best overall in L.A. Dance Magic Competition, Best overall in L.A. Underground Competition, Miss Photogenic from Dance American Extravaganza..

As a student, Amanda has trained with Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Winnipeg Dance Force, and Vince Perall. She has completed the Elementary Ballet Exam: Royal Academy of Dance (Commended), and attended training workshops with L.A. Dance Force, L.A. Dance Magic, L.A. Underground, Termaine, 5-6-7-8 Showtime, Triple Threat and D.A.X.


Miranda Brown - Teacher/Choreographer

Miss. MirandaAs a student teacher, Miranda has five years teaching and choreography experience throughout various Calgary Dance Studios. Miranda has recently received a certificate from the National Coaching Certification Program for completing the training for Introduction to Competition in Multi-Sport Modules.

As a performer, Miranda was selected as a singer/dancer in The Young Canadians for two years where she was involved in different shows throughout Calgary including the Grandstand show where she performed for 18,000 attendees. With The Young Canadians, she also performed in the opening show for the Special Olympics and performed a show presenting Santa at the Olympic Plaza to the children of the city. As a singer she was involved in the competition Calgary’s Junior Singing Idols in 2004 successfully attaining the semi- finals.

As a student, Miranda started training at a young age in Calgary with Tanya Sutherland, Amanda Twerdun, and Joelle Shepard followed by Tyce Diorio, Mandy Moore, Brian Foley, Angela Benson, Mark Eriksen, Hocine Layada, in the following disciplines: Hip-hop, Jazz, Ballet, Irish, and Funk. She has also taken classes at Edge Performing Arts studio in Los Angeles.

We are proud and excited to have Miranda returning for her third year with Tanya’s Dance Worx instructing Hip-Hop and Musical Theatre.
